Cruel Serenade 0.4.0 is up!


This is a "revisit" update to patch and tweak a few things. No serious new content, just some quality-of-life things. Among them:


   -Added a few plugins from GT to address various issues and add functionality (Screenshot is now possible on F7)

   -Finally tweaked the stair guard fight to make it slightly less punishing.

   -Made a few small adjustments to combat.
   -Added save slots.

   -Made the glowing crate a little more interesting.

See below for details.

I've also been having some weird glitches with icons, but I think that's local. Let me know if it crops up on your end.

Changelog for 0.4.0:

     Tweaks:

     -Added a few plugins from GT. CS1 now has: Screenshot
     ability, on F7, Tooltips for statuses, Support for fancy area
     names if I decide to add them in the future, and the patch
     against glitching on high-refresh monitors.

     -By popular demand, the fight against the boar guarding the
     stair is now somewhat easier to win. HP on him and the others
     in the fight has been reduced a bit, and there is now an
     additional crate with a Dazzle in the area before you enter
     the ruined museum. Hopefully this won't make the fight
     TOO easy, but in testing it seems to be juuust doable with
     perfect item management, timing, and a bit of luck.

     -The glowing crate now does something a little more interesting,
      and somewhat less punishing.

     -Boars now wait at least two turns after Mezz has recovered from
     down before using hypno again.

     -Struggle success rate increased slightly, from 30% to 40%.

     -Five save slots added, for a new total of 25!

     -Updated Mezz's face pictures so they're properly aligned.

Oh no, the battle in front of the stairs has become too simple now! She has lost all that meaning and joy of overcoming. The old battle was already passable if you know what to do, but now it's too easy! Now she does not even reach 2 calls for help! Taking into account the green box, I think that it is necessary to return the old version of the battle

The end of the staircase god

Encountered a minor error that I don't know if it existed prior to now (as the circumstances never happened before).  Bunny was under control by the single boar that was left, I hit Attack? and the 9 points of damage ended up killing him.  The next battle showed that Struggle was still an option under Special even though I wasn't under control again.

Probably an edge case I hadn't seen yet. Looks like I wasn't including that skill in my post-battle cleanup, so it's added as of now. Will be rolled into next update.

You forgot to mark the v0.4.0 download as a Windows file (which causes it to not be listed as a an upgrade option from within the Itch desktop client).
