A "new version" is not, in fact, "available here"
Cruel Serenade » Devlog
Just a heads up: there's a scam that's been going around Itch for a while where some random piece of shit will make an account and spam links in the comments of games with "new version available here" or something similar. I of course nuke and ban, but they do this in waves with new accounts.
Hopefully most people are smart enough to realize this already, but I just want to PSA it:
1. I will never post links in comments, only in the official game file downloads or devlogs like this. The one exception may be when I'm working on a bugfix with someone, but that will obviously be from MY account.
2. Do not download things from random unknown accounts, let alone run them.

here too???? another game I play has been getting that bot like every other month sometimes even week. I really hope nobody falls for it, but if nobody did why would it keep showing up...
it's actually kinda funny how it is EXACTLY the same link in every game tho. I usually just report it lol
Oh this has been going on for at least a year now, maybe more. It's just been going on for SO long now with zero changes that I figured I might as well say something. Yet another example "this is why we can't have nice things": Itch comments are one of the few comment sections left on the net that aren't constantly swept by 6 different algorithms that delete anything they don't like instantly. It's just down to creators to find and kill stuff. So of course that openness is abused.
Thank you, bitshift!
